The Invitation to Intimacy
Didi Madden, OP
Jesus revealed his intimate relationship with the Father...the oneness with the Father permeated every cell of his being was now made clear to his disciples and offered to those whom he loved.

Jesus unburdened his followers of their faulty understanding of God as distant and unknown and invited them to understand the nearness of God and the intimate closeness of God.

Jesus promised his disciples that receiving this truth into their life would enable them to do the same works as he was performing...and do even greater works. Jesus boldly gave the disciples the power to claim his name in service to others and promised that asking in his name would ensure that what they asked for would be done.

This  revelation, unburdening and promising proclaimed in the Gospel are God's gifts to us for the transformation and healing of the Community of Life. The invitation to intimacy with God's love, power, compassion, and mercy is woven throughout the readings in the words of Jesus' teaching. The action of God is clear...

Let our actions be as clear...

We must grow our capacity to unleash these gifts of God in our lives. We must surrender each day to God's call to be the compassion, love, mercy, and kindness the world needs. We must deepen our trust in God's ways and in our capacity to respond. We must act...wisely and boldly...we must act...for justice and peace...we must act....for all those who cannot act for themselves...we must act....to honor our God!
