Can You Handle The Truth?
Lystra Long, OP

“Truth! What is truth?” Pilate to Jesus

“Truth? You can’t handle the truth!” Jack Nicolson as Col. Jessup said in the movie “A few Good Men.”  He justifies his giving the order to murder an innocent man.  He feels no remorse about it.  The scene from A Few Good Men from 1992 is one of my favorite movie scenes.  Jack Nicholson is so believable.  He convinces himself that he has the right to take a man’s life.

We live in a time where truth has become relative.  We live in a time of fake news, where fiction becomes truth.  It is sometimes very difficult to decipher the lies from the truth and even if we could, we sometimes choose not to.

Truth is not relative.  Truth is a person and he is Jesus Christ.  He is the risen Christ we celebrate this season.  He is the way the truth and life and no one can come to the father except through him. (John 14:6)

In this Easter season, what are the areas of your life where Jesus is revealing truth?

What is this truth calling you to do?
